„VITAS ALPHABET" AND COLOGNE FAMILIES
Film screening and talk with Cosima Santoro and Nuria Cafaro

Building on the WDR documentary “Eine Kölner Familie” (A Cologne Family) from the 1970s, which shows, among other things, the activism of young Italian women in Cologne against overpriced rents and poor living conditions, we show later film works by one of the protagonists of the WDR documentary.
With “Vita's Alphabet” by filmmaker Cosima Santoro, the focus shifts from the external representation to the self-representation of the lives of Italian migrant women in the Federal Republic of Germany.
This is followed by a conversation with Cosima Santoro about her cinematic work, about external and self-perception, about historical struggles, their relevance today, and the need to find a language.
