Call for Material & Costume workshop
16 January—6 February 2026
Fridays 3:30—7:30 p.m.

In January, we invite you once again to the open costume workshop at the Temporary Gallery! Here, costumes are developed artistically. Cologne Carnival can be discussed and prepared in a protected environment.

In simple language: The open costume workshop runs from January 16 to February 6, 2025. It takes place on Fridays between 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Artists and costume designers lead the workshop and help with the design. Everyone can sew, build costumes, and be creative. The aim is to develop new ideas for Carnival. The workshop aims to question typical Carnival costumes. Creative and individual costumes are created. The art scene and carnival have a long connection: for example, artists have repeatedly organized costume parties and incorporated political themes into carnival by designing carnival floats. In the costume workshop, we want to work together to ensure that everyone feels comfortable in the space and no one is hurt. That's why we make sure that no one is excluded.

More information about the program will be published in early January!

Call for materials!

Used materials encourage further processing and creative thinking. We are collecting materials for our costume workshop again. Help us collect fabrics, feathers, trims, wires, ribbons, lace, flounces, beads, filling, cardboard, etc. Old discarded costumes that could be reused are also very welcome. Guided by artists and costume designers, participants in the costume workshop will work with these materials in the Temporary Gallery over the coming weeks.

You can bring the materials to the Temporary Gallery until January 16, every Monday (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Thursday, and Friday (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.). We can also pick up materials from you. In this case, please email us at info@temporarygallery.org by January 7.
