Sebastian Fritzsch's artistic practice spans a wide range of media. In addition to photography and painting, the disciplines featured in the exhibition, his work also includes ceramics, drawing, and even film/directing. As part of the exhibition program, this week offers a special opportunity to see Sebastian's film “Der Wald in mir” (The Forest Within Me) again on the big screen at the Filmhaus Cologne. If you haven't seen the film yet, or would like to see it again with fresh popcorn and a cinema seat, it starts at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025. We are looking forward to it and will also be there.

The film provides insight into the life of biology student Jan, whose apartment is filled with aquariums, terrariums, and cages. His love of animals connects him with Alice, a radical environmental activist with whom he falls in love. The newly discovered diversity of nature and intense feelings allow the young man to blossom. But the feverish amour fou with its animalistic elements also shakes his sense of reality. When Jan slips into a schizophrenic crisis, a frenzied whirlpool of love and delusion begins, at the end of which he must decide on a new life.

The film will be shown in German.

Tickets: 11 Euros; order here.

A week later, more films by Sebastian Fritzsch will be shown at the Temporary Gallery as part of the KFFK / Cologne Short Film Festival. Four short films by Sebastian will start on November 20, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the exhibition.
