PATTERN PLAYGROUND
TAUKO Magazine garment design workshop
Thu 21 March, 4—7 p.m.

The workshop is already fully booked.

As a teaser to our upcoming exhibition dedicated to collective aspects of craft making, we are organizing a workshop led by Mila Moisio and Stefanie Kroth from TAUKO magazine. It will introduce fun, hands-on techniques for learning about garment construction, perfect for anyone who wants to make their own clothes.

During the workshop you will learn how to bring your design ideas to life using miniature dummies. Using a variety of designs from TAUKO magazine, you will cut and sew (by hand!) patterns that are scaled to allow the miniature dummies to be used for 3D experiments. You can choose fabrics or even paint them, and try out different modifications and hacks on the finished patterns. From fabric selection to pattern design and sewing, you will learn the secrets of haute couture - making a mock-up pattern really fun and creative! The use of miniature dummies makes this experimentation and learning easy and light, reinforcing the seamless transition of new-found knowledge to full-size garment projects. The workshop gives confidence to start new sewing projects by gaining a better understanding of garment construction, fabric choices and modifications.

Skill level / requirements:
No sewing machines or advanced skills are required - just your enthusiasm, creativity and desire to craft your own little couture. This workshop will enhance your knowledge of making garments whether you are a beginner or an experienced maker.

Course language:
German & English
