INTERNSHIP POSITIONS
Starting December 2026
Temporary Gallery.Centre for Contemporary Art in Cologne is looking for curious and committed interns who are studying art history, art studies, philosophy or a related subject and would like to gain insight into exhibition organisation, art education, and press and public relations. We are particularly interested in students who have an interest in contemporary art and art theory and possess strong organisational skills.
There are currently two internship positions available. The first will accompany our project series KOSTÜMWERKSTATT. The second position will support an upcoming exhibition at Temporary Gallery aimed primarily at children.
Temporary Gallery is a non-profit institution for contemporary art in Cologne. Founded as an art association in 2009, it was directed by art historian and curator Regina Barunke from 2012 onwards. In January 2019, Aneta Rostkowska took over as director of the gallery. In collaboration with its guests, the institution develops contemporary, often interdisciplinary questions through its exhibitions and extensive accompanying programmes. These encourage a reflective distance from emerging art movements and open up new ways of thinking. The institution is committed to both the international and local art scenes and fosters synergies between artistic and curatorial projects in and around Cologne. Its work is shaped by an in-depth exploration of local and global socioeconomic contexts and close collaboration with theorists and practitioners—not only from the field of contemporary art. In 2018, the institution received the ADKV-ART COLOGNE Award. In 2025, it was awarded the *Weststern Förderpreis für Gesellschaftliches Engagement und gemeinschaftliche Teilhabe (Weststern Award for Civic Engagement and Community Participation).
