GUIDED TOUR
Sustainability in the exhibition “Sleep”
Curator's tour with Timo Schmidt
Sat 15 November, 3 p.m.

How can exhibitions be made more sustainable? What strategies are part of curatorial practice to make our understanding of ecological and social contexts visible?
These questions will be the focus of the joint tour. Timo Schmidt will provide insight into the topic of sustainability in the planning and implementation of the exhibition “Sleep.”
Particular focus will be placed on the so-called hayloft. One goal of this retreat is to ensure that it does not become temporary exhibition architecture that has to be disposed of after the exhibition.

Sebastian Fritzsch painted the wooden floorboards needed for the exhibition in advance. The result is 60 unique pieces featuring well-known drawings by the artist, which visitors can purchase at the end of the exhibition. Until November 16, the hayloft can be used as usual for sleeping, chilling out, as a place of retreat, or for conversations. After the exhibition, the new owners can decide for themselves where to place the wooden floorboards and what to use them for. Whether in the garden, as a shelf, or as an object in the bedroom or kitchen, they will remain a reminder of Sebastian Fritzsch's exhibition beyond their new function.

The respective floorboards can be picked up for a nominal fee of 60 euros on the last weekend of the exhibition. From November 20 to 23, the wooden floorboards will be arranged standing on the wall between the paintings and photographs. A list for reservations is available at the exhibition. The proceeds from the nominal fee will go toward financing the exhibition.
