In our society, there are often preconceived images of who we are. ‘70% BARBA(R)’ plays precisely with this perception. Is it just a barber shop? Or is there more to it than that?

A young high school graduate, who is also a talented barber, cuts hair - an everyday moment, but also a symbol for community, exchange and culture. There is music from different cultural contexts playing in the background, people meet with respect and a smile.

But then there is this lettering: ‘70% BARBA’ - but without the classic ‘ER’ at the end. Instead, you could read ‘BARBAR (ian)’. A wordplay that raises questions. Are we just hairdressers? Or are we viewed as something else by others? What prejudices exist, what images arise in people's minds?

This artistic work invites us to take a closer look. It's about more than hair - it's about identity, stereotypes and who we really are.
